Jakarta, teropongrakyat.co – August 24, 2025 – Jakarta Dessert Week (JDW) 2025 officially opens today at Central Park Mall, the festival’s main venue partner. Entering its seventh year, JDW continues to highlight Indonesia’s dynamic culinary scene with a series of curated programs that strengthen Jakarta’s position as a leading gastronomic destination in the region.
The opening ceremony was attended by more than 300 industry stakeholders, including renowned chefs, culinary entrepreneurs, media, as well as representatives from the Ministry of Creative Economy of the Republic of Indonesia, the Ministry of Tourism of the Republic of Indonesia, and the Provincial Government of DKI Jakarta. JDW is also part of Karisma Event Nusantara (KEN), the official list of top cultural and tourism events endorsed by the Ministry of Tourism.
Restaurant Week: Limited-Edition Desserts
This year, more than 50 leading brands join Restaurant Week, including FLOR (Ismaya Group), Knots (UNION Group), Braud, 7AM, AB Steak, Kempi Deli, Pipiltin Cocoa, Maiku, Billy’s Block, Chicory, and many more. Each participating restaurant will create a special limited-edition dessert inspired by JDW’s theme, available only during the festival period (August 25 – September 14, 2025). Consumers are encouraged to experience “dessert hopping” across Jakarta to enjoy these creations.
Dessert Markt: Platform for Emerging Brands
In addition to Restaurant Week, JDW also presents Dessert Markt, a dessert bazaar designed to give emerging and new brands the opportunity to showcase their creations. Hosted at Tribeca – Central Park Mall from September 4 – 14, 2025, the bazaar features more than 35 participants, including Bagai Mendapat Durian Runtuh, Serabi Mawar, Terve, Itsuka Cola, DOSA, Maru, Tomaple, Doux Cookies, Kwasong, Mysie Bakery and many more.
Golden Swirl Award Returns
JDW 2025 is also the initiator of the Golden Swirl Award, the highest recognition in Indonesia’s dessert industry. Now in its second edition, the award will be held on September 8, 2025, at Plaza Indonesia.
Government Support for Tourism & Creative Economy
Yuke Sri Rahayu, Deputy for Creativity, Culture, and Design at the Ministry of Creative Economy of the Republic of Indonesia, stated:
“The culinary subsector has become the backbone of Indonesia’s creative economy, contributing 42% to the creative economy’s GDP, generating over Rp 644 trillion in added value, exports of USD 10.8 billion, and absorbing 9 million workers in 2024. Culinary is not only a new engine of growth but also a tool for cultural diplomacy and an accelerator for exports, which will continue to be developed through innovation, collaboration, and empowerment of regional creative talent.”
Tourism and Sustainable Gastronomy
Fransiskus Xaverius Teguh, Expert Staff to the Minister for Sustainable Development and Conservation, Ministry of Tourism of the Republic of Indonesia, added: “Jakarta Dessert Week is not only a celebration of culinary creativity but also a step towards sustainable tourism by strengthening Jakarta’s image as a gastronomic destination. Initiatives like this are vital to boosting the creative economy while enriching Indonesia’s tourism experiences.”
Gupta Sitorus, Founder of Indonesia Dessert Week (the home of Jakarta Dessert Week, Medan Dessert Week, and Bandung Dessert Week), emphasized: “For the past seven years, Indonesia Dessert Week has served as a platform for collaboration across the culinary industry, from established brands to emerging players. With this year’s theme, A Tribute to Jakarta, we celebrate the city as a hub of creativity and home to so many talented pastry chefs and dessert artisans. Through JDW, we aim to raise industry standards, open new opportunities for brands, and bring Indonesian desserts to the global stage. Indonesia Dessert Week is not only for Jakarta but also part of a larger journey that includes Medan Dessert Week and Bandung Dessert Week.”
Digitalization & Public Engagement
As part of its commitment to digital innovation, JDW 2025 also introduces the official Indonesia Dessert Week mobile app developed by Opaper. First launched at Bandung Dessert Week, the app now enhances the JDW experience by providing easy access to program information, registration for pop-up events, and a digital stamp system for dessert hopping.
Festival-goers can also enter a lucky draw with prizes ranging from KitchenAid appliances, Nespresso machines, Cristel cookware, luxury hotel stays, dining vouchers from renowned restaurants, to coffee courses at Roemah Koffie Academy. In addition, special discounts are available for HSBC credit card users during the bazaar, and a daily Best IG Story Contest offers dining vouchers from Markette, Central Park Mall.
